UNITED WAY IS . . .

PEOPLE – Caring for each other is the foundation of our community.
LOCAL – Contributions remain in our community to help our neighbors.
EFFECTIVE – United Way volunteers assign undesignated gifts to the greatest needs. IMPACT – Your gift to United Way helps over 40 local agencies and programs.
ACCOUNTABLE – Local volunteers monitor costs to help assure contributions are well-spent.

For 50 years the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties has been meeting the needs of its citizens. Begun in 1956 as the United Givers Fund (UGF), this local organization has provided funds to human and health care agencies that help your neighbor, your family and you.

Thanks to the efforts of hundreds of volunteers who ensure that contributions are used wisely and for the most urgently needed services, United Way's administrative and fund-raising costs are kept low. Through the United Way citizen review process, local volunteers annually evaluate the needs first-hand. Other volunteers serve on committees and on the board of directors to provide oversight and guidance.

Over 20 agencies and programs provide services to residents of Cannon County. United Way welcomes representation and volunteers from Cannon County.

Remember that you can research each and every nonprofit at www.guidestar.org, where you can find 990s, nonprofit board of directors, mission statements, and more.
