United Way’s Success By 6 Collecting School Supplies
Second annual event ensures students start class with proper materials for success.
United Way’s Success By 6 initiative will be collecting school supplies through August 5, 2011. Supplies will be collected at the United Way office, located on the second floor of the FirstBank building at 615 Memorial Boulevard, between 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM Monday thru Friday.
Success By 6 is an early childhood initiative of United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties that focuses on healthy development and kindergarten readiness.
Last year, more than 500 students were provided with school supplies through Success By 6’s first drive. Supplies are distributed directly to students in Rutherford and Cannon Counties. With the school supplies, the students’ parents also receive United Way and 2-1-1 materials. United Way’s 2-1-1 initiative is an information and referral services line, connecting individuals with the resources to enable them to be successful.
United Way’s Success By 6 initiative requests donations of the following items for this year’s school supply drive:
Back Packs (most schools request NO rolling back packs)
Pack of yellow #2 pencils
24 Count Crayola Crayons
8 Count Crayola Markers
White Elmer’s Glue
Glue Sticks
Pocket Folders
3 Prong Folders
12” ruler
Wide Rule Paper (loose)
Spiral Notebook (wide)
Dry Erase Markers
Scissors (Fiskar scissors are preferred)
